Happy Summer Everyone!!

I hope everyone is having a blast this summer while soaking up the sunshine. We have had a pretty warm summer in my opinion and as much as I am not a big fan of heat, it has been pretty nice to lay out in the sun. I may have not laid out as much as I would have hoped but some color is better than none! With the summer winding down, I couldn’t be more ecstatic to begin fall. Fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons and who doesn’t love wearing big baggy comfy sweaters and boots? With that being said, the beginning of the upcoming school year is also right around the corner.

It is definitely bittersweet knowing that I won’t be heading back to Champaign this fall considering I have already graduated. However, it is also a little sad that I am done with school completely.. As weird as it is to most, I am in love with being at school. I love the thought of newly bought notebooks and folders as well as sparkly pens. I love getting organized and going out to find the perfect planner to begin my year with. Most of my friends will return to Champaign and it is super crazy to think that two of my brothers are already done with high school and are working full-time.

I am super excited to watch my sister begin school this Monday. She will finally be in middle school! She is growing up so fast. I remember when she was entering elementary school and it is weird to think that I don’t even remember those days. She is starting middle school. I had to stop and take that in for a second. She is in 6th grade!? How crazy. She will finally get to walk from class to class but is sad recess is no longer in her schedule. I swore she was 13 going on 30 but she is only 11. She is so mature for her age, I know she will do great. I can’t wait to see what kind of sports she gets involved in as well as the kind of classes she has.

While everyone is getting ready to attend school again, one of my favorite places to get prepared for the big first day is Tjmaxx! I am definitely a maxxinista as they call it and shop all things Tjmaxx. They have the cutest notebooks for school as well as anything organizational for your desk at home. I know it always helps to get creative so it helps with wanting to do your homework. I love their notebooks because they are not your typical blue, green and yellow notebooks. They have cute phrases or sayings on them and they are super unique. They also have the cutest clothing. I know for my sister, it was fun grabbing her some of the boutique items that Tjmaxx carries for her age.

In fact, one of my favorite planners from Tjmaxx is their Gartner Studios brand. This is not usually the type of planner I go with but this one was super trendy and I loved the color palette they chose. It has super cute colors including a greenish color, blue, pink, purple and white. It also includes a phrase on the front cover stating, “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be”. On their website it looks as if they have the same thing but in a padfolio. However, I am super excited for everyone to head back to school. It was one of my favorite times and still is. I think about my college career all the time. It was funny to me considering I had an interview a couple of days back and when the employer looked at my resume, they were shocked. They had mentioned to me that it looked as if college was a career and not just an education for me. I looked back at them and smiled. Finally, someone understood me. I worked very hard academically but I flourished organizationally. I took my time seriously during college and enjoyed every second of it. It has taught me so much which is another story for another day. In the meantime, I cannot wait to see what will be learned this fall in the classroom.

I will leave you with this: School is difficult. It is not meant to be easy. If it was, everyone would do it. Think of school as a stepping stone. As a way to get ahead of your competition. A way to learn more than you currently know. Whether that be from your peers, professors (teachers), and or yourself. There is always so much to learn but you need to want to learn. That will make all the difference. Put yourself in a spot where you actually want to learn and see what you will accomplish and the doors that will open. Do the best that YOU can and do not hold back. If you are not that “A” or “B” student, get there. Do it. This is your year. You can do it! What will you accomplish this year?

Xoxo,

Sara
